Usually poured with less coffee liqueur than I did here… but it’s my video, and therefore, my recipe, and I think it tastes better with a larger portion of the ‘Black’ or coffee liqueur. Very simple, and very tasty… If you haven’t ordered one lately, you should! It’s a delight! Cheers!

What about beverage business? Management Services and Consulting Need a Web Site for Marketing or E-Commerce ? The Caipirinha Cocktail is the nation drink of Brazil! It is made with fresh lime segments, sugar and cachaca. Cachaca is not a rum! It is similar, however the difference is that cachaca is is made with the fresh pressed juice from sugar cane, then fermented to make cachaca. Rum is usually made with the fermented by-products of sugar production, like molasses. The word caipirinha is the diminutive version of the word caipira, which refers to someone from the countryside, being an almost exact equivalent of the American English, slang term: hillbilly. This cocktail is wildly popular in Brazil. A couple of variations, though not quite as popular are the Caipiroska, which is made with vodka substituted for cachaça, and the Caipiríssima is a caipirinha made with rum instead of cachaça.

Cape Codder

cape-codder-3-4Cape Codder 1 ½ ounce Vodka 2 ounce Cranberry Juice Over ice in a rocks serving glass Lime Wedge Garnish I once had a priest order a “Cape Codder for a bridesmaid, And I will have a cranberry juice with vodka in it…” he said. One of the most simple of cocktails, but a very tasty and popular drink. This is the perfect summertime cocktail. This drink is made simply by adding vodka to cranberry juice. Similar ‘boat drinks’ are the Sea Breeze (with grapefruit also), and the Bay Breeze (with Pineapple also). The Bay Breeze is a cocktail which has a Cape Codder as its base, but with added pineapple juice. This drink is also sometimes called a Downeaster or Hawaiian Sea Breeze, similar to the Sea Breeze, which uses grapefruit juice instead of pineapple juice. I classify this one as a ‘boat drink’ or a ‘Jimmy Buffet’ cocktail.

The Cosmopolitan Cocktail seems to have it’s purported roots in the hands of modern mixology. With so many bartenders staking claim on it’s creation… there is no way of knowing exactly where it was invented… It does seem to be generally recognized as a drink since the late 1980s and since then… it’s popularity has skyrocketed to it’s current stature as the quintessential ‘martini cocktail’. Made with vodka (originally ‘citrus’ vodka), triple sec & cranberry juice, squeeze of lemon (lime has taken hold here) and give it a good shake. Cheers! Stay thirsty my friends!

What about beverage business? Management Services and Consulting Need a Web Site for Marketing or E-Commerce ? The Bronx Cocktail is essentially a Perfect Martini with orange juice added. It was ranked number three in “The World’s 10 Most Famous Cocktails in 1934”. An old school classic, it was the third most popular cocktail in 1934, after the martini and the Manhattan. Today, it remains a popular choice in some markets, and is designated as an Official Cocktail by the International Bartender Association. Like the Manhattan, the Bronx is one of five cocktails named for one of New York City’s five boroughs, but is perhaps most closely related to the Queens, which substitutes pineapple for the Bronx’s orange. Two gentlemen of the era are separately credited as this drinks originators. Joe Sormani, from Philly and Johnnie Solon of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. Whoever was the true author, this drink has fallen into obscurity, but isn’t out of the game completely. Gin, Dry Vermouth, Sweet Vermouth and Orange Juice, makes this a tasty drink.
